A Night Away

Yesterday, Paul surprised me with a night away for our anniversary. He had to surprise me though because if he would have told me ahead of time, I'm not certain I would have gone. The thought of leaving our Nylabear overnight with people is/was terrifying. I have no rational reasoning for that, it just is.

But enough with the doom about Nylabear, let's get to the juicy details of the night! And by juicy, I mean let's talk about how engorged my boobs were! Holy moly. With Paul surprising me, that also meant that he had to pack the bag for us to overnight somewhere. What a wonderful man, he remembered almost everything: toothpaste, toothbrushes, clothes for the next day, my make-up, etc...He even made a conscious effort to remember my breast pumps, knowing that the milk would flow.

So we get back to the room last night, and I prepped myself to pump. "Paul, where's the bottle to collect the milk?" I scoured that room and thrashed our bag searching for the bottle portion of the pump. I was literally like a ravaged animal, digging into the bag, almost sniffing out the bottle! I must have looked ridiculous.

Well, we had forgotten the bottle. Damnit. So there I was, standing in the hotel room with boobs the size of globes! I had to figure out a way to relieve myself, so Paul suggested that I take a warm shower to get the milk moving, then maybe I could pump out milk myself.  In case you are wanting to know, you milk a human the same way you milk a cow. Doing it manually, though, is not very enjoyable.

After 10 minutes of trying to express milk myself, I gave up. I just decided to put on my old tank top again and let myself leak during the night. And Lord did I leak...lol what wonderful information you are getting right now as you read my blog. But for real, I leaked almost down to my waist. Good thing we were at a hotel room! Whew!

We could not get home fast enough because I was so ready to nurse! But more importantly, I was SO READY to see my Nylabear! Oh goodness it was so wonderful seeing her again! I missed my girl so much! It was only difficult at night because she wasn't there to snuggle and kiss.

Turns out, Paul did pack my bottle for the pump...just packed it in the wrong bag. He put it in Nyla's diaper bag instead of our overnight bag. That was his mind on auto-control. :)
